ABOUT THE COURSE
The ocean is the ultimate testing ground for our ability to control ourselves in stressful situations.
Whether that be getting held underwater by a wave, being stuck in a rip, worrying about snapping your leash, or hitting rocks - there really is nothing that'll test your ability to manage stress like the ocean.
We all have fears, anxieties, and stresses in the sea, some stem from trauma responses to previous incidents, others more primal, all of which are totally valid, but all of which can be minimised with the right tools and techniques.
This course is all about teaching you just that.
Giving you a framework to increase your breath hold capabilities in the water, techniques to minimise anxiety levels in the surf, and a whole method by which to maintain control of yourself and your emotions in the ocean.
HIGHLIGHTS
The course is split up into three components:
THE WHY
We need to understand what's leading to the restricted breath holds in the first place, to find out what's going on internally.
Once we know that, we have a roadmap to follow to improve.
THE HOW
Armed with the knowledge of the mental and physiological responses that overwhelm us in the surf, we can now begin to retrain our autonomic bodily responses.
Through a simple step by step process you'll learn new skills to push through these barriers, and begin making strides towards increasing your breath hold time.
LETS GET PRACTICAL
Throughout the one day course you'll be taking what you've learned and implementing it in the pool.
You'll be put through tests and real life simulations, putting your new skills into practice.
We follow our unique curriculum which has been designed specifically for surfers, and their unique experiences in the water.
We start things off by getting some benchmarks; breath hold times for each of the participants.
We'll use this time as a baseline for the rest of the course, something we aim to increase in the short time you have with us.
With this information present, we move into theory and practical activities to help remove the barriers that may be preventing you from reaching your potential breath hold times.
As a group you'll learn what's happening on a physiological level to your body, you'll also learn how your mental state triggers these responses, something that holds many people back.

We'll be carrying out the practical elements of the course in the pool, so the equipment required is minimal.
You'll need to bring along swimwear, goggles, and a towel.
21 Days notice is required to cancel your booking.
Upon cancellation you have the option to either receive a refund minus 30% administration/setup costs, or you can opt for a 100% credit note to be used towards the same booked service at the next available dates offered with the Surf Hub.
Less than 14 days notice no refund and full credit issued less 40% administration costs.
Less than 7 days notice, no refund or credit is available.
